When Jean Claude’s youngest daughter was sponsored through Unbound a few years ago, he could finally visualize his family’s path toward a future free of poverty and began working to secure it.
Through Unbound, families are encouraged to develop their own capacity for personal and economic growth. They learn how to create income-generating activities and practice savings and loan strategies so that they can eventually develop sustainable livelihoods.
Using saving techniques that he learned through Unbound, Jean Claude invested some of the sponsorship benefits into his once struggling livestock and vegetable farm in Rwanda, increasing his stock. Then, he launched a new business making and selling sorghum juice.
Little by little, Jean Claude and his family edge closer each day to reaching economic self-sufficiency, and their lives have already begun to change.
See how sponsorship has empowered Jean Claude and his family in a short amount of time to work toward and achieve their goals. Watch the video “Empowering Families: Jean Claude’s Path Out of Poverty” below.
