Unbound’s Goal Orientation powered by Poverty Stoplight tool helps families identify their strengths alongside other areas in their lives that need improvement to overcome extreme poverty. With this tool, a mother and son in Guatemala set and worked to achieve their greatest priority — to have a home to call their own.

Mirza, the mother of a sponsored child, and her husband took a leap of faith after both losing their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic and opened a spice shop in Lima, Peru. With the help of an Unbound Small Business Accelerator grant, the family was able to expand their products and increase their sales, encouraging them to make future plans to become wholesale distributors.
