About this layout

I finally found the perfect Portal Page template after (literally) days of searching! I'm going to leave the words of the designer, Melfina, at the top since it is pretty much what I would have written:

"Oh... the beautiful Opening for Elfen Lied... simply gorgeous. Love the music, images and all. It's the last anime series I've seen and I must say I love it. Don't even try watching it if you don't like blood and nudity though. The lyric is down. That's latin, of course :)

Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam,
Et lingua eius loquetur indielum.
Beatis vir qui suffert tentationem
Quoniqm com probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae.
Kyrie, ignis divine, Eleison
O quam sancta, quam serena
quam benigma, quam amoena
O castitatis Lilium"

(The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom, and his tongue shall speak judgment. Blessed is the man who endures temptation for once he has been tried he shall receive the crown of life. Oh Lord, oh holy fire, have mercy. Oh how sacred, how serene, how benevolent, how lovely, oh Lily of purity.)

Thanks so much for this beautiful design, Melfina! This was actually the first anime I ever saw, and it TOTALLY blew me away, thoroughly trashing my stupid and narrow-minded assumptions about this wonderful art-form. Since then I've discovered so many wonderful stories I can't even count them all. As for the Opening theme to Elfen Lied I plan on eventually putting up an inline music player here so visitors can hear this song and the pretty music-box version I found.

Kudos to Melfina and Celestial Star; if you're into anime and designing your site, give them a visit; their link is to the right.

Portal Navigation

This navigation is somewhat simpler than the previous layout; I'm not messing with this pristine coding to put spacers up yet. Maybe later LOL. Previous visitors will find that the extraneous links have been removed, since I have the Blog to blab about interests that can be catgorized there. Essentially, the links to the right are grouped in sets regarding the Website, the Novel, and assorted other pages of interest. For the last grouping I'm planning on a separate Anime Page with links and articles of a more permanent nature than the Blog, and a Links page as well, but for now those entries are dead ends. I've yet to gather all the sites I want to link to; there are quite a few of them! (And I lost ALL of my bookmarks when my PC died *cries*)

What you'll find, and where

I think the first section pretty much speaks for itself LOL. In the second, you'll find information regarding the novel I've spent so many years crafting with my Muse, whose attention, devotion, and communication I am most grateful for. I've also included a link to excerpts comprised of three five-page sections that make up Chapter One of the book. I hope you enjoy reading Lily (and Will's) story! It really was a labor of love, and they show it ;-)

The next section is made up of odds and ends: "BOUND" is a planned collection of character vignettes that may be published as the sequel; it'll be more of a prequel though as these short stories will take place before UNBOUND. Not much there yet but for an explanation LOL The second link leads to several pages looking behind the mystery of Lily and her various "incarnations". Well, most of them anyway!

The Photo Album contains a few pics of anime figures, collectibles, and dolls; I planned on more diversity such as local nature shots and places of interest, but my space-quota is getting full so I'll have to cool it with the photos until I can afford more. A word to the weak ones: Don't go there if dolls "scare" you. Consider yourself warned LOL World-class photographer Elena Dorfman honored me with her presence and graciously allowed me to put her published photographs of Lily-doll here. She and Elisabeth Alexandre, an editor from Marie Claire magazine's French edition, visited us in 2004 and included us in their books, "Still Lovers" and "Des poupees et des hommes" so I'm more than happy to give them credit :-) It was a lot of fun!

The last two links lead to nowhere so don't bother with them yet; eventually they will, and I hope that you will when the time comes ;-) I'll update this page and announce the opening on my Blog when I get around to it :-)

Last Words

I'd like to compliment Melfina on a very well-written page of code. I went through dozens and dozens of templates to pick this one out, and by far it is the easiest to read, understand, and work with. Well done! *applauds*

After continually coming across off-centered templates such as my former Portal page, and too-difficult-to-read fonts, and characters I just wasn't interested in, I was becoming very frustrated. I was looking specifically for themes with the Kanon or Air girls, or Chi from Chobits. I did find an off-center Lucy that I was tempted to use anyway, but I knew I wouldn't be happy with yet another skewed page. (Lucy is the main character from Elfen Lied, featured here and somewhere on my Blog as it scrolls ever-downward. In fact, you'll find a great pic of her holding her "Lilium" music box there ;-)) So, I was SO happy to find such a perfect one as this! I guess all that time spent in trial and error was a blessing in disguise!

While the stories of Kanon and Air are so very close to my heart, Elfen Lied is my sentimental favorite, as Lucy/Nyu was my "first". You know how that goes :-P The story is alternately funny, dramatic, silly, and devastating, sometimes to extremes. Combined with the images of Gustav Klimt (the small pic in the "About Me" box is influenced by "The Kiss") and the beautiful Opening of "Lilium" it makes for a perfect Story that relentlessly comes to life and breathes its essence to the viewer through that lovely, haunting Theme. It so reminds me of my Lily (and even references Will) like no other thing I've experienced. If you aren't put off by horror, this anime will OWN YOU.

In the past I've linked to YouTube clips of the Opening, but they always get yanked. Keep an eye out on my Blog; I'll try to put another up. Someone always manages to post one after the "sweeps". The old one still up on the Blog is long-dead, but I left the embed up anyway LOL Perseverence furthers! And you've got to experience "Lilium" at least once ;-)

Thanks for visiting, reading, and opening your mind! Please enjoy your stay here :-D

About ME

Haven't you read enough about me already? LOL

Currently a writer living in the Pacific Northwest and trying to get UNBOUND published. Still single (and so somewhat sane) after all these years in solitude crafting Lily's novel. I'm finally at the stage of submitting query letters; once I get a positive reply I'll report it on the Blog immediately (if not sooner)! Wish us luck :-D
