SAN LUCAS TOLIMAN, Guatemala -- CFCA is awaiting word from its staff after a series of earthquakes occurred in Guatemala on Sept. 19.
The quakes were in the state of Santa Rosa, southeast of Guatemala City. CNN reported that the largest quake had a magnitude of 5.8, and that three people are reported missing.
Santa Rosa has four CFCA offices in the area of the Chiquimulilla Region. They are working to make sure all sponsored friends are safe.
"We are prepared to provide immediate assistance with drinking water, food, clothes and blankets," said Antonio Palma, coordinator for the region. "We are also preparing the premises of the CFCA office to use as a temporary shelter in case it is necessary."
So far no injury or property damage to sponsored members or their families has been reported. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
