Filipino fire displaces 22 sponsored members
January 31, 2011
MANILA, Philippines — A fire swept through Navotas City, Philippines, and displaced 22 CFCA sponsored members and their families, reported Marivic Ihap, Quezon project coordinator.
The Barangay San Roque area of Navotas City, which is part of metropolitan Manila, was celebrating the festival of its patron saint, San Roque or Saint Roch.
Ihap said there were no casualties among the CFCA community, but the sponsored members affected by the fire are now homeless.
"We are providing food, blankets and used clothes at the moment to meet their immediate needs," she said.
CFCA is awaiting information from the project as to what further assistance is needed for the families.
Another fire occurred in Navotas on Jan. 1, 2011, but it did not affect any members sponsored by CFCA.
