Bilingual Regional Accountant

Unbound is seeking a regional accountant for our International Programs department. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide financial training, monitoring, financial analysis and support to project staff. This position will also assist with financial audits of overseas affiliate projects. This position is responsible for ensuring project compliance with Unbound financial policies and the implementation of audit recommendations and serves a lead role in training and support to Unbound project accountants in the implementation of fund accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project accountants in the implementation of Unbound financial policies, financial documentation and recordkeeping, and financial reporting of Unbound sponsorship program operations through the use of fund accounting software
  • Help ensure that projects are presenting an accurate footprint of the financial condition and activities of the project
  • Monitor projects’ compliance with Unbound financial policies
  • Support improved financial operations in the projects
  • Support decision-making and risk management at Unbound-Kansas

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in accounting/finance, or equivalent related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bilingual ability (Spanish and English) required
  • Significant experience using fund accounting software
  • Ability and willingness to train project accountants on new systems, processes and policies
  • In-depth understanding and buy-in of Unbound mission, values and principles, and concepts of sustainable structures in Unbound sponsorship programs
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup and other functions), Microsoft Access (creating and modifying tables, queries and reports), software applications
  • Experience with financial analysis and auditing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong initiative; ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred qualifications: Experience with audit planning and reporting a plus. Management or supervision of accountants and/or auditors a plus. Presentation skills a plus. Overseas experience and working with other cultures preferred.

Marketing Intern

Unbound is seeking a marketing intern. This individual is a member of our U.S. Outreach team and is responsible for helping to sucessfully implement Unbound's marketing initiatives.

The Marketing Intern will assist in organizing marketing material needs, promoting U.S. Outreach initiatives, and contributing ideas and feedback to the team. The intern will also employ research skills as needed.

Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. Candidate must have strong organizational skills and be comfortable working within a team setting and taking direction. Strong computer skills in a Windows environment — Excel, Word and Outlook — required. Must demonstrate professional attitude and work habits.

This is a six-month internship. This internship requires the individual to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Depending on individual’s availability, the internship may include up to 40 hours per week. Intern must be able to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Qualifications: Recent graduate or currently enrolled junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, advertising or business.

Preferred qualifications: Marketing emphasis or marketing experience. Graphic design experience using programs such as Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign is a plus.

Outreach Coordinator

Unbound is seeking an Outreach Coordinator. This individual is a member of our U.S. Outreach team and is responsible for nurturing the relationship sponsors have with Unbound and encouraging them to get involved with our outreach efforts in the United States.

This individual will introduce volunteer opportunities to sponsors and supporters and ask them to help us in our efforts to invite people of good will to join Unbound as sponsors and donors. Working in a team environment, the coordinator must be able to communicate enthusiasm for the work we do and be persuasive in their approach. Communication is primarily done by phone, but may also utilize email and mail. This individual will recruit, encourage and support supporters of Unbound in outreach efforts and should have a passion for helping families living in poverty.

Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; self-motivation with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once; excellent customer service, sales and/or marketing skills; and inbound and outbound phone experience with proven results. Candidate should be able to motivate people, deal with rejection and remain positive as well as listen carefully and resolve concerns while maintaining composure and professionalism. Candidate should have strong organizational skills and be comfortable working within a team setting and taking direction. Strong computer skills in a Windows environment - Excel, Word and Outlook - required. Must demonstrate professional attitude, work habits, and be credible and comfortable in speaking one-to-one or in a group setting.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in business management; sales, marketing, customer service or related field or four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred qualifications: Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Sponsor Services Phone Liaison

Unbound is seeking a phone liaison for our Sponsor Services department. This position represents Unbound by phone (inbound and outbound), email, mail and instant messaging. It addresses the concerns and interests of sponsors and donors and nurtures the sponsor experience with Unbound. This position must provide excellent customer service.

Candidate must have 3+ years of customer service experience, excellent customer service skills and experience with proven results. Incumbent must possess the ability to listen to clients and resolve concerns while maintaining composure and professionalism, excellent organizational skills, and excellent writing skills. The position requires the ability to multitask (talk on the phone and type on the computer at the same time), work on a team and be a team player while working independently, understand and follow through on instructions, type 45 to 50 wpm and have strong computer skills in a Windows environment.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred qualifications: College degree preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

User Analyst Department Specialist

Unbound is seeking a user analyst department specialist. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert for the department on our proprietary database and will interact daily with co-workers, listening to them to learn about their needs and discussing suggestions for improvements to systems, processes and work flow. In addition, this individual must acquire and demonstrate a complete understanding of the work of the department at the functional, operational, and technical level and how the work of the department interacts with the work of other departments.

The user analyst department specialist works with the department director, departmental team leaders to plan and implement project work and work flow improvements, fixes and enhancements to Unbound’s proprietary database. This individual gathers requirements, documents fixes, requests enhancements, and systematically tests changes and updates. Also, this individual will be responsible for communicating such changes to departmental staff members and providing associated training.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; three to five years experience as a subject matter expert and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Individual must possess technological aptitude and a comfort level with new software testing and training; strong data-entry and computer skills in a Windows environment: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook; type minimum 40 wpm; be organized and detail-oriented; have good written and verbal communication skills. Individual should have a history of working from system data to generate reports for understanding trends and performance measurements. Individual must have the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work on a variety of tasks simultaneously. This person will work independently and in a team setting, and should have a cooperative, professional attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
