Bilingual Regional Accountant

Unbound is seeking a regional accountant for our International Programs department. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide financial training, monitoring, financial analysis and support to project staff. This position will also assist with financial audits of overseas affiliate projects. This position is responsible for ensuring project compliance with Unbound financial policies and the implementation of audit recommendations and serves a lead role in training and support to Unbound project accountants in the implementation of fund accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project accountants in the implementation of Unbound financial policies, financial documentation and recordkeeping, and financial reporting of Unbound sponsorship program operations through the use of fund accounting software
  • Help ensure that projects are presenting an accurate footprint of the financial condition and activities of the project
  • Monitor projects’ compliance with Unbound financial policies
  • Support improved financial operations in the projects
  • Support decision-making and risk management at Unbound-Kansas

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in accounting/finance, or equivalent related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bilingual ability (Spanish and English) required
  • Significant experience using fund accounting software
  • Ability and willingness to train project accountants on new systems, processes and policies
  • In-depth understanding and buy-in of Unbound mission, values and principles, and concepts of sustainable structures in Unbound sponsorship programs
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup and other functions), Microsoft Access (creating and modifying tables, queries and reports), software applications
  • Experience with financial analysis and auditing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong initiative; ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred qualifications: Experience with audit planning and reporting a plus. Management or supervision of accountants and/or auditors a plus. Presentation skills a plus. Overseas experience and working with other cultures preferred.

Multimedia Editor

Unbound is looking for a full-time Multimedia Editor to join its Communications team. The Multimedia Editor will have many responsibilities in an exciting, fast-paced and creative team.

These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • editing video produced in-house as well as footage produced in the field
  • videotaping interviews, b-roll and other subjects
  • recording and/or editing high quality audio
  • shooting and/or editing photography
  • uploading produced pieces to the Web and third-party video and audio players
  • maintaining reference library of video, photo and audio materials

Ideal candidates will be:

  • Adobe and PC/Mac literate
  • a great communicator and team player
  • a nimble and efficient problem solver

Qualifications:

  • a four-year degree in multimedia, video production, broadcast, new media, marketing, communications, or related field
  • a minimum of two years’ experience
  • serious Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Final Cut skills
  • a portfolio representative of their work
  • a desire to help people overcome poverty

Project Specialist

Unbound is seeking a project specialist to work in our international department. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the regional project directors in implementing consistent Unbound policy and core values at the project level. This position is responsible for ensuring quality and providing personal attention to sponsorship program details. The position works in a team environment and provides support and feedback to overseas projects. The position assists in general and international department operations as assigned.

This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in professional correspondence; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; good problem solving and analytical skills; professional attitude and work habits. Incumbent must have in-depth understanding and ability to apply the Unbound mission, values, and principles in the Unbound sponsorship program. Intermediate computer skills in a Windows environment: Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook; should have a desire to work in service of impoverished communities.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Preferred qualifications: International development experience; fluency in Portuguese a plus; strong listening skills and presentation skills a plus.

Writer/Editor

Unbound is looking for a contract on-site full-time writer/editor to join its communications team. The initial assignment will be three to six months, with the possibility of long-term employment. The writer/editor will have many responsibilities in an exciting, fast-paced and creative team.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Concept, plan, coordinate, write and edit content for print and online publications, ensuring that content is accurate, compelling and consistent with Unbound’s mission, core values, branding and messaging.
  • Assist with production process of creating and sending electronic publications and marketing emails, publishing blog posts and uploading Web content as assigned.
  • As assigned and in collaboration with others, help support the communications centers in the field through regular contact such as weekly touch-base Skype calls, group emails twice a month, quarterly conference calls, and communication via Skype and email when needed.
  • Generate and help implement ideas for driving readers from print publications to the Unbound website, creating supplementary content when needed.
  • Provide support for other departments, serving as a resource for writing, copyediting, AP style, Unbound style and grammar expertise.

Ideal candidate will be:

  • Great communicator, collaborator and team player
  • Skilled editorial and marketing writer
  • Accustomed to deadline-driven roles
  • Familiar with WordPress
